Contagious Tales
From ICWiki
Contagious Tales is wiki formated joint authorship project in altruistic memetics. It takes the form of an adventure story burdened with ideology and pop-metaphysics (ala the Celestine Prophecy). Multiple authors are crafting a possibly ever-dynamic story in which the main characters travel through different self-replicating socio-cultural constructs (aka memes). These meme descriptions are the authors suggestions as to real culturally enhancing structures which we believe should be built. The structure of the wiki surrounding the story is more explicit instruction and author commentary on how these structures might come to be. The intent of the project is to build the story and the surrounding vision (in the wiki environment) so that these proposed altruistic memes are actually embraced and manifest.
Writers, philosophers, activists, organizers, gamer players, social critics and memeticists are being sought to be involved in the development of this tale. This is a volunteer project.
This project was initiated on Wikipedia in a User space and was surprisingly quickly deleted (as is appropriate). Now under the freer format ICWiki site, we will ry to encourage folx to participate in the project which is open to public editing. At some point we will hopeful make it to a first "printing" and freeze a version of this tale. To avoid clogging the regular directory with the myriad entries this project either work under a user space (current format) or use subdirectories off of ICwiki:Contagious_Tales (which is likely a better solution). The hope is that the story will use a Linux-like version release type system where the authors will agree when a version is complete and release it and then begin working on the next improved version.
By it's nature Contagious Tales is not an encyclopedic format wiki (like wikipedia), but rather one which is both artistic and maintains a particular point of view (POV). There is a draft of what each chapter might have in it.
Contagious Tales is a positive future story in the spirit of Aldous Huxley's Island and Ernest Callenbach's Ecotopia. These stories and Contagious Tales are suggested partial road maps to a better world.
