Evolution to Obituary?
This article was primarily written while Geoph was still with us. Now that he has passed away, do different standards of writing and privacy and information disclosure apply? Can we be more thorough, get more engagement, and share more stories of how he has affected our lives, while the memories are fresh?
I made a small change to include his date of death, but that makes me realize we are missing his date of birth... and I believe a rewrite/restructuring (starting with the intro) would be the best way to tell the story of his life here. Raines 12:04, October 23, 2007 (CDT)
Laird has an in memorium article written for Cmag that I plan to post on the website today which we can link to from here and/or possibly integrate into here. --Tony 15:39, October 23, 2007 (CDT)

Somewhat edited blurbs on Geoph from an article credits
Geoph Kozeny has been "on the road" since New Year's Day 1988, visiting over 350 intentional communities scattered across North America. He is himself a seasoned veteran of cooperative living -- having lived in communities of one kind or another for over 20 years. Geoph was an early coordinator for the FIC communities database, has served on the Fellowship board, and is a regular columnist for Communities magazine.
He volunteers full-time for the Community Catalyst Project, a nonprofit organization he created to:
- help communities get in touch with each other
- provide technical assistance and support
- offer referrals for seekers
- promote public awareness of community living as a viable lifestyle option.
Geoph's primary educational tool is a slide show he compiled (and regularly updates) to provide a representative overview of the backgrounds, philosophies, and lifestyles currently available in shared living communities. Another version of this overview of intentional communities has been published in Claude Whitmyer's book, In the Company of Others (Jeremy Tarcher, San Francisco, 1993).
Geoph Kozeny has lived in various kinds of communities for 27 years, and has been on the road for the past 12 years - visiting, studying, facilitating, and consulting for intentional communities scattered all across North America. He asks about their visions and realities, takes photos, and gives slide shows about the diversity and vitality of the communities movement. He was a core staff member for the first edition of the Communities Directory, and is a regular correspondent for Communities magazine. Presently, he is completing production of a full-length video documentary on intentional communities, released in the 2001.
Blurb from Co-op Camp Bio
Geoph Kozeny Camp Co-Manager I first brought my 12-year-old daughter to camp in 1986--and we both got hooked. I've been involved ever since, and assumed a camp co-manager role twelve years ago. Although I love the Potholes, the volleyball games, the campfire sing-along, and most of the discussions and workshops, what brings me back year after year is the sense of "tribe"--each year Co-op Camp is like a grand tribal reunion. In my “regular” life, I'm an activist in the intentional communities movement and have produced a 90-minute video documentary about them: “
Communities Directory correction?
A question about the Communities Directory as presented in the article.
The article states, "Before there was a Communities Directory, Geoph was the coordinator of listings in the community directory project." I had always assumed that the FIC's Communities Directory was descended reasonably directly from the Communities Directory in Issue #1 of _Communities_ magazine, from 1972 (and actually even farther back to directories in one or more of the several publications that were merged to create _Communities_). Have I been wrong all this time?
