Zhankoye

From ICWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Zhankoye was the name of a Jewish collective farm established in the Crimea in the 1930s. It was the subject of a Yiddish-language song, the last verse of which is translated:

Who says Jews cannot be farmers Spit in his eye who would so harm us Say Zhankoye, Dzhan, Dzhan, Dzhan

Twin Oaks Community build a new kitchen-dining center (KDC!) that was given the name "Zhankoye" when it opened in 1985.
